A&A Metro Transportation of Massachusetts Named No. 1 Industry Leader by National Transportation Association

Bridgewater Company to Accept ‘Paratransit Operator of the Year’ Award by Taxicab, Limousine & Paratransit Association

(ROCKVILLE, Maryland)—The Taxicab, Limousine & Paratransit Association (TLPA) is pleased to announce it has named Thomas P. Arrighi, President of A&A Metro Transportation in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, as its 2009 Paratransit Operator of the Year.

In a highly competitive field of applicants for the award this year, Arrighi and A&A Metro Transportation exemplified the award criteria for attention to safety, superior service and community involvement.

“With Tom’s leadership, A&A Metro Transportation has earned the respect and trust of the people they serve,” said Alfred LaGasse, Chief Executive Officer of the TLPA. “This is a company and a leader that believe in the highest quality service, in rewarding the efforts of workers, and in being an active part in the community.”

The company was started as Bill’s Taxi in 1952, operated by Tom’s parents, Bill and Dorothy. Tom bought the company from them in 1987, and expanded into paratransit services that first year after buying his first wheel chair van and winning a contract to transport school children. The company now has a fleet of almost 100 vehicles, 50 percent of which are ADA accessible, and operates 685,000 passenger trips each year.

Community involvement is a key belief with Tom. He is an elected member of the Town of Bridgewater’s Recreation Department, and for 20 years served on the YMCA’s Board of Governors in East Bridgewater. Along with his brothers and family, Tom has organized the annual St. Thomas Aquinas Charity Golf Tournament for the past 11 years, raising $150,000. He was named 2004 Citizen of the Year by the Bridgewater Rotary Club.

The award is an honor that Tom knows belongs as much to his staff, who he regularly rewards through company programs and incentives for exemplary service to clients.

“We are only as strong as our front line employees,” says Tom. “Without them, we cannot succeed.”

Tom will accept the award on Oct. 5 in front of nearly 1,000 industry peers at the TLPA’s annual convention, held this year at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. This year marks the 91st Annual Convention & Trade Show for the TLPA, and is the world’s largest gathering of for-hire fleet executives.

Established in 1917, the Taxicab, Limousine & Paratransit Association (TLPA) is a non-profit trade association of and for the private passenger transportation industry. Its extensive membership spans the globe to include 1,000 taxicab companies, executive sedan and limousine services, airport shuttle fleets, non-emergency medical transportation companies, and paratransit services. Customer Feedback

I would like to take a moment to commend George and Peggy, who transport me daily between my home and the Mansfield Train Station. Their professionalism and positive attitude make riding the van truly enjoyable.

Since I am totally blind, I ask George and Peggy to not only bring me to/from the station, but also to guide me between the train and the van. They are always more than willing to assist me, which is a tremendous help.

No matter the weather (including during a large blizzard) Peggy and George are prompt and take great care in ensuring the safety of all passengers.

I wish to thank you and the management of A & A Metro for hiring such excellent employees. Their hard work deserves many commendations and much appreciation.

Sincerely Yours,
T. Vernon, Mansfield, MA
